what is a universal charger?

i have a voyager from verizon, and it broke so i moved phone companiesthe charger slot broke , it wouldnt charge.but my friend had the same phone and she said to get the universal charger, they sell them at radio shack. she said itll charge your phones' battery cause hers broke as well. is this true? i have never heard of one, and i dont wanna feel stupid asking radio shack and them not having it. i want my voyager back, :)

It is a wall charger that comes with (or you can get) a number of tips for different make/model phones.
ive never heard of a universal charger either. but i know for a fact that one charger wouldnt fit a voyager and an iphone cuz they have 2 completel different charger slots unless it has multiple plugs attched to one thing
well, technically, there can not be a 'universal charger' as that would be impossible to make, with all the different types of batteries in the world - from watch hearing aid cells to car train batteries however, what she means (I think) is a universal phone battery charger, and that would be VERY difficult to make but it's possible one could be made for a type of phone, if enough connectors and voltage current ranges were available
a universal charger is just that, it will charge all batteries. The charger is controlled by a microprocessor and knows how to charge the battery. One warning, make sure that the universal charger is made to charge the battery TYPE that you are using. Maha makes a nice universal charger, and radio shack sells it, but it is not made to charge lithium batteries.
