i was looking to buy a dvd recorder on OKorder but it says it is missing the ir blaster cable and im not sure if thats something i need.
infrared controller , it allows your dvr to change channels on a cable or satellite box .if you hook it directly to the tv you don't need it, if it is to control a cable/satellite box you need it.
IR stands for Infra Red and an IR blaster is a remote option for things which would otherwise be controlled through a keyboard I guess that IR blaster is for the TV inside your computer One end should go somewhere in the back of the PC where the bum of the TV card is sitting but there should be an added device in which you can plug the other end of the cable
A long *** wire with a red LED on the end, that gets put on the IR receiver of whatever, and the LED changes the channel when it lights.
