I don't have them nor do i find them tacky it's just I don't care for teh mess these decals leave on the car if you try to sell it or if you lease it can be a problem
Most people put a small weatherproof luggage lock on the bottom of the cover where it latches. If that is not an option for you, you can always put a locking lugnut (aka. wheel lock) where the spare mounts to the hatch. You can find the locking lugnut at any toyota dealership parts counter or aftermarket auto parts/tire store.
