.sound!?I have been driving for 30+ years and I have yet to figure out how to make the wipers not make that sound.I travel a lot, so I rent cars of all types never have been able to figure it out. I know it‘s not the blades, it‘s gotta be meHelp!
how do you know it's not the blades? You said scraping which means the noise is the interaction between the blades and glass, right? You can try different wiper blades perhaps with different material, or adjust the bracket to make sure the blades are perpendicular to the glass. You can also try really cleaning your windshield and/or treating the glass with like Rainx or other treatment.
It's the blades. It's not you. Rental cars are notorious for not having regularly scheduled maintenance, and unless a renter complains about something (like noisy blades) then they're not going to know to do it. Also, blade quality matters. Wiper blades should be replaced once a year. They're exposed to all kinds of weather, sun, etc. and because they need to be flexible, etc. they're made out of material that deteriorates in sun, wind, rain, snow, ice, etc. It's not you. It's the blades. Quality matters.
Once a year. Sooner if used in freezing conditions. The rubber wears down, if the blade is't self starts touching thw windshield it will scratch you windshield. You can not take the scratches out. Windshield Blades wear out every six to 12 months, change them when they streak or make noise!
