what does it do is it any different from any other kind of paint?
I have used a strong cleanser a stiff scrub brush. It does take a little elbow grease time but it works. I like to use Mean Green straight from the bottle; just spray it on scrub with the brush. Rinse with hot water; be sure to rinse out brush often.
DO not, repeat do not repaint fire extinguisher. It is not safe. It should be painted BEFORE charging it at the factory. After that it should only be recharged whenever it loses its pressure as indicated by the pressure guage. Ask any fire station. They will tell you the same. Don't muck around with safety equipment.
