The paint on it was fine. The owner who smoked owned it for about 20 years. It was white. Now is yellow and reeks of cigarettes. I want to just paint over it all, but I'm afraid the nicotine will cause the paint to mess up or something. What is the easiest and best way to repaint it?
If they're original nuts, they should not be all brown rusty, but some rust is common as they're only metal after all. Most rust are with after market locking nuts, or customs nuts. Rust on outside won't affect the performance of the nut itself, just the appearance. Hey, depending on how the car body is, the rust might match the panels
I had that same exact thing happen to me in my apartment last year: the smoke detectors would go off full blast in the middle of the night. After about 3 nights of this I called maintenance and the problem was that all the smoke detectors were wired together and the battery in one was wired wrong so it caused them all to go off, and it just happened to be a really bad time. The maintenance guy said sometimes those things can go off by other things like carbon monoxide, spiders/spider webs, or even dust. If you change the batteries and still having the problem, you should call the fire dept. to come check for CO.
Probably going to have to carefully heat up the knuckle around the joint so it expands and then drive out the busted stud.
Try a torch to heat it up or a gear puller might work. Many places rent them.
Don't heat the control arm , take the nut off spray it down with some penetrating lube get the proper tuning fork and pound it out . Special tools to do the job .
