the clear shields are easily scratched, hard to clean and the glare on them sucks. I'd go with a cage mask
Get a glass boiling flask from a laboratory supplier. Place the coins in the flask. Then, using a propane torch, melt the neck of the flask and draw it out so as to seal it. This is 100% waterproof for all time, but it is delicate. You need to put the whole thing in a padded container before burial. Also, if you bury a magnet with it then you can find the flask later using a compass or a magnetometer. Mason jars do not work because the metal screw top corrodes, releasing the lid. They discovered this during the civil war when they used Mason jars for this purpose. Have fun smoking your coins!
OnlyI get your point and, yes, close to half the league wear visors, but we're a long way from mandatory full shields. Now, mandatory 1/2 shields might very well become the norm but, at the rate the league is going, 80% of the players will be in visors in 5-10 years, anyhow.
