What is the cost of CAR REPAIR BENT AXLE 1997 CAMRY?
Why not just sell the whole car and let the person who is buying it know you just put a new transmission into it, and whatever else you did to the car. Do you have the receipts? That is even better, so you have proof. That way, you may just get the cost of the transmission back, plus, you will have this car out of your life. LOL.
There is a toll free number on your owners manual call them and tell them about the problem. They will ask you to take the vehicle to a Toyota dealership and will ask for all your maintenance records so keep them ready. If you did take the vehicle to a Toyota dealership they already have your record. Also they will ask you to provide the diagnosis from the shop that found the problem, so have them write one up. No you won't get a new vehicle they will simply repair the transmission, and no other shop will be able to do the work except a Toyota dealership shop. Your vehicle should not have any transmission problems period.
You can try but theres just not a lot of demand for used transmissions. Then there is the issue of removing it and installing it for whoever buys it. I would say the best case is its worth a few hundred. Maybe a little more if it has a written transferable warranty even in a different car. Finding a buyer might be like finding a needle in a haystack.
front or rear? front will be a CV-joint, a 1/2 axle. The part alone is at least $165 I would guess, and labor on this is not fun nor piece of cake. I would include at least $400 for labor. So just a round number, $550. Would not surprise me if the bill is $950 though.
camry does not have an axle in the rear, it is most likely suspension components that are broken (bent) which I think is worse than a simple remove/replace of a cv half shaft. Ive sported up a few camrys and have completely replaced suspension components in a couple of different models, (what a pain in the *** they were) ive since shied away from the camry platform for this very reason. you could be talking about a grand or so if rear suspension is bent or broken.
