What is the difference between cold air intake stock and aftermarket?

I drive a Mustang V6 2002 and I bought a new intake from American Muscle but i noticed my stock one gets cold from the fender as appose to the new that is stil exposed to the engine so itd be around hot air Idk which is better to use please lemme know the true difference thnx

Answer:

I have to say, you are one of the only people I've seen that has noticed the scam of the cold air intake, congratulations on that. You are right, the stock intake is cold air, and the brand of cold air intake you have, is hot air. Your stock intake is better. If you really want to upgrade your intake, remove any hoses with bellows (look like vacuum cleaner hose) and replace with smooth hose, this will improve air flow. You might also want to look into a cloth filter if you prefer those to paper filters. Only a few cold air intake kits actually improve air flow and density/temp over stock. I would return the kit and put the money to a chip or tuner, that is cheapest way to notice power gains over stock.
pretty much, but its uglier and its not aluminum.
