Im doing a school project on the element Copper and i am having trouble finding the oxidation number.
RE: What is the oxidation number of Copper? I looked at the periodic table and it says copper has a +1 and +2 charge , which one do i use? I'm trying to write the formula for copper {II}Chloride and don't know which oxidation number i should use for copper.
For copper metal? 0 For cuprous (copper (I)) compounds? +1 For cupric (copper (II)) compound? +2 You need to be more specific.
