boiler is used in industries
Water is heated by any fuel may be solid fuels like coal etc or liquid like oils etc or gas like petroleum gas ,natural gas etc. The steam produced is allowed to collect till high pressure builds up. This high pressure steam can be used in variety of ways depending upon requirement. It can run turbines to produce electricity, or a steam engine (recall the most earliest locomotive railway engines), or just transfer heat to some other source. However generally this steam is used in more then one way in a particular process. There is a huge variety of ways to use this steam even to the extent of using some of it to preheat the water to again change it into steam. All the processes are well researched into and most of the processes are governed by the property of steam which has been tabulated in the steam tables which can be obtained from any engineering book store. The subject dealing in detail on boilers is thermodynamics, a part of mechanical engineering.
Boiler design is the process of designing boilers used for various purposes. The main function of a boiler is to heat water to generate steam. Steam produced in a boiler can be used for a variety of purposes including space heating, sterilisation, drying, humidification and power generation. The temperature or condition of steam required for these applications is different, so boiler designs vary accordingly.
A boiler produces steam by heating water via a gas or oil fired burner. Steam is used in processes requiring heat or power. Also used for heating the buildings and adjusting humidity of the air pumped into the buildings.
