Question:

What is the purpose of the buffer in an AR-15?

My AR wont fully cycle light bullets like the 55 grain .223 round, but it will fully cycle 62 grain and higher rounds and i know that the heavy bullets produce far more pressure behind the bullet to get the bolt back far enough to pick up the next roundSo why wont my AR-15 cycle the 55 grain bullets? If the buffers to heavy could i buy a lighter aluminum buffer and take care of the problem?

Answer:

Daydream, as aboveBut if you know how to make a beer batter, even better.
The easiest thing to do, is to make them like they do in restaurants, buy a cheap packet of batter mix follow the instructions, and dip each onion ring into the batter then deep fry yum yum I love them too:)
Fat Ronnie's Fried Onion Rings 2 cupsFlour 1? tspSalt 1 tspGround Pepper ? tspBaking Powder 1 cup Buttermilk 1 Large Sweet Onion (sliced 1/2 wide) Vegetable Oil for Deep Frying Place buttermilk in one bowl and set asideMix flour, salt, pepper, and baking powder in separate bowlHeat oil at 375?F for fryingDredge onion rings in flour mixture first, then dip in butter milk and then coat with flour mixture againPlace onion rings in hot oil and do not crowd onion ringsWhen onion rings are golden brown remove from oil and drainMore salt may be added to your tasteThese were traditionally served in a brown paper bag from the Topeka, KS, location.
55 is a light projectile but it should cycle the action Is your chamber good and cleanno burrs or drag lines? Lubricationmany ARs like a wet bolt assembly to run right? Gas tube cleanstaked in place correctly? A lighter buffer may helpbut simple things firstI'd rather shoot the 62 grain (or heavier) projectiles if my guns twist rate is correct for the heavier bulletsif the 62's hit point of aimwhy change?
