Question:

what is warmer polyfill or hollow fiber fill?

It is for a horse blanket, I am comparing 250 grams of hollow fiber fill or 250 grams of polyfill for a blanket to be warmer!

Answer:

Don't buy scratchy yarnHold a skein of yarn to your cheekIf it feels scratchy before you crochet with it, it will be ten times worse when it's made up into a blanket.
Use a quality yarnAlso you can wash the blanket a few timesAs they are washed a few times (and through general usage) they do get softer and softer.
The softness has nothing to do with the way you crochetThe softness depends on the yarn you choseChose a soft yarn and you will have a soft blanket.
I crochet and knit for charity and what you are saying is true I use regular old Red Heart worsted weight yarn, To make it soft I use White vinegar in the rinse water - that takes out soap and stuff and then when I put the afghan in the drying I use a dryer sheet Believe me - this makes all the difference I even made hats for the cancer center using this process and they are quite soft against your skinGive it a go It doesn't cost much I even use the cheapest dryer sheets in the dryer.
Hollofill is superior to polyfillIt mimics down feathers.
