Why are snow tires different is it the pattern or the rubber. Whats up. I have summer tires only on my car do i really need to spend 4 hundreds dollars on snow tires or is there not much difference. Just wandering!!!

Yes there is a major difference. The winter tires or snow tires which you refer to them as have increased tread depth. At the moment you have no choice but to spend because if you try to drive in wintry conditions with summer tires, then you won't get the traction you need to drive safely.
