not really cruel depends on your dog, coat type, weather, etc if your dog has a thick coat, it doesnt need clothes if your dog is smooth coated, and you live in a cooler climate, a sweater or coat may be for when its cold out. I use clothes on my hairless dog. not only to keep him warm but to protect his skin from sunburn
how big is your furnace , there not that hard to put in , where is it at in the basement ? most of the 2000.00 is going to be in LABOR i bought a 90000btu 90 % for less than 700.00 and installed it myself . never installed one before till i did my own and it wasnt that hard for the same btu furnace a company wanted 3000.00 to put it in
