Question:

what materials prevent magnetic forces/fields?

essentially what i‘m looking for is a material that i could place in between a screw and a magnet that would stop the magnet from attracting/ repelling the screw. i am aware that any material that is thick enough will prevent it but i am looking for something that is smaller and more compact then a stack of paper

Answer:

The only magnetic screening material available is a sheet of iron. But the iron sheet will probably be turned into a magnet itself ( by induction ) and so you might not be any better off. Anyway to put the screw in place before the magnet is in place?
