i have a 1991 toyota mr2 turbo and im thinking of adding mods to it. i was thinking of a good suspension system, but not sure which one. and also a performance exhaust and hid lights, and good tires (not rims). so if anybody suggest me good stuff to put in this car id greatly appreciate it. and if you put prices too then thats even better. thanks guys!
Wedge and Woooohoo are right. Like Wedge said, first you need decide what your goal is before doing anything. You have a car with the 3S-GTE engine. I know people with street legal versions putting out 400+ hp on the dyno. That cars has tons of potential and the aftermarket has been kind to it due to what it is capable of and the devoted following that this car still has. This is where Woooohoo's answer comes into play. That forum is worth it's wait in gold for MR2 owners. Visit it. You'll have a newfound love for your car. MR2s are amazing cars as you probably already know. Toyota seriously overbuilt them- like they've always been known to do to their cars until about 6-7 years ago.
If you don't know why not do nothing and save the cash towards the next car. Additionally, a modded car will not be an attractive buy when you come to sell it, so you lose money both ways.
It's easier to know what you want to mod when you have a goal you're aiming for. Street, drag, drift, highway. and if you're more for function, or more for form. I always start the modding process with Stage 0 which starts with replacing all the old tired hoses on the motor, replacing gaskets, making sure all components are within tolerances, etc. The next step usually involves light intake exhaust, followed by brakes cause it's better to be able to stop the car earlier than normal than later IMO. You can do a light street shock/spring suspension next. I don't know what you're aiming for, so it's hard to tell you what to mod. With a goal, you can skip steps and save money instead of buying a mod, realizing something is better for your goal, selling your current, buying, and repeating the process all over again.
