Question:

What's the difference between a lemon and a lime in terms of use?

I see all these home remedies for stuff like whiter fingernails and brighter skin and all that using. lemons. Would limes work as well? and what's the difference in acidity and stuff anyways?

Answer:

Key limes are MUCH smaller (about the size of a walnut) and have a tarter flavor. It takes a LOT of them to squeeze enough juice for an entire pie. I'd recommend getting the key lime concentrated juice, or the pre-squeezed juice, unless you'd like to spend a while squeezing yourself. But definitely use the key limes- you'll definitely appreciate the tropical tanginess that regular limes don't have!
There are all types and sizes of limes. Key limes are small, tart limes. The are more acidic than regular limes. I don't think it will make that much of a difference if you substitute. Of course, everyone in south Florida will probably disagree with me!

I made a pie using regular limes and it was not the same. Stick to the key limes!
Yes Key Limes are smaller and usually more tart. Dends on the Limes, there are several different kinds, even sweet Limes that are almost as sweet as Oranges. PART OF THE STRONGER lIME FLAVOR FROM kEY lIMES COMES FROM THE EXTRA OILS FROM THE SKINS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO SQUEEZE MORE OF THEM. iF USING REGULAR ( SOMETIMES SOLD AS pERSIAN lIMES WHICH REALLY ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT ) GRATE A LITTLE OF THE ZEST INTO THE JUICE.
