Question:

what to do with bearded dragon eggs?

i have 18 beardie eggs and i an wondering how i should set them up. i have them laying in an incubator right now between 82-86* and the humidity is around i have to say 80-85% maybe more. i know that you should not spray the eggs or turn them.my main question is:should i cover the eggs with the vermiculite or is it okay to have them uncovered when in incubaton?

Answer:

Absolutely. I use it to start all my seeds. Asbestos is regulated by so many agencies now that it's unbelievable.
Is Vermiculite Safe
Absolutley safe. Vermiculite and Pearlite are usually found in better quality potting soils. It helps with aeriation. Check out my source. It's been around forever, don't be afraid to use it, there is no harm to you or plants.
I have read the bag of vermiculite, and I agree the warnings are scary. In school the teacher always made us wet down the vermiculite and perlite so we would not breathe it in. Dry product can stick in your lungs.I remember the bag also says to wear a mask. I wonder if the Vermiculite Council mentions all the money they have payed the miners for their long term lung problems. Perlite has similar warnings. I have switched to washed play sand. Most other sands available at the garden centers have chemicals known to cause cancer as stated on the bag.
you got some bad info from someone. you have to pay extra to get potting soil with vermiculite in it.
