Question:

What would happen if an m1a2 abrams loader dies?

Or the driver, who would take their place?Would it be *disabled*?

Answer:

All crew members are cross-trained in all positions
You actually think they don't cross train? You know what happen if a tank is in combat especially vs other tanks or anti tank weapons/aircraft and just sits there. IT BLOWS UP.
If that happens (I assume you are talking about in combat) then the tank itself is probably also f*cked up... But say it wasn't or the loss was due to an accident...then you'd request a replacement through battalion and they'd send one of the extra 19Ks in the battalion (i.e. the Sergeant Major's driver, radio operator in the TOC, etc, etc) to fill in.
If a Loader dies or is injured, the Gunner becomes the Loader, and the Tank Commander takes over the main gun. If something happens to the Driver, then the Loader drives and the Gunner loads, TC guns If we lose the Gunner, then everyone stays where they are. Loss of the TC, the Gunner takes his spot and everyone else stays in their spot We train for that
