I got this little beauty for a wedding present, the only problem is it doesn't start and we believe it just needs re-wired. So I'm looking online to find some harnesses and am having issues finding 1976. My question is what year span is interchangeable with the '76 cb750? I've already been told it isn't worth it but I like the bike so as long as it's not super expensive I'm gonna do it. Thanks for the help!
Call David Silver Spares for that info.
Honda made so many of those bikes for so long that a lot of stuff is still available. Try a dealership!
the main inexpensive option to an oem harness basically may well be making your guy or woman. As a carburated kind, there is not all that plenty to it. No pc bits, or different fancy stuff that choose specific wiring or connectors.
Before you go to the work and expense of swapping a wiring harness, if you have truely narrowed it down to an electical problem, disconnect every wire connector on the harness (one at a time so you don't get them mixed up), check for corrosion and clean if necessary. Apply dielectric grease and reassemble them. I seriously doubt it's the wiring itself, either a dirty connection or a ignition or kill switch with dried up grease causing the problem. Also, don't forget to clean the points or better yet, install new ones. After adjusting them, take a thick piece of white paper like an uncoated business card and drag between the contacts until clean. Even a tiny bit of oil from a feeler gauge will prevent them from making contact, resulting in no spark.
