what is the proper tightness when installing wheel bearings ona vehicle?
bottom it out then back it off just a little, maybe 1/4 turn
depends on what kind of vehicle alot are in the 260 ft lb range others which are tapered bearings tighten and then back off alittle to put in cotter pin
Once the nut is past the cotter pin than should be tight enough. Check the Chilton's manual for your make and model to find out the exact torque to apply.
