Question:

Wheels for hedgehogs?

I have a hedgehog, and i originally had a medium sized wheel but had to upgrade to a larger one because she was getting too big for it. Anyways, my problem is it is a Comfort Wheel and her cage is in my room and they are the NOISIEST wheels ever.It is terrible. I have had Silent Spinners before for other pets and they are much quieter, however they looked to me to be.i guess not wide enough for her? But since these are the only wheels I have seen at the pet store, i feel they are my only options. So is a silent spinner large size wheel a good wheel for hedgehogs? Also, has anybody ever used those flying saucer things? I was just wondering if those work well for hedgehogs and if that would be an option.Thanks.

Answer:

You could try a normal metal mesh wheel and get some felt or material to cover the inside to protect their feet somehow.
it is fairly crummy to have it locked up in a cage, what a awful existence to be compelled to stay. here you circulate little guy, have a crappy wheel to run in as a substitute of having the flexibility to run unfastened exterior rooting and digging like hedgehogs do.
If you have a cage with bars, the comfort wheels have a clip on the back to attach to the bars of the cage. It's much, much quieter that way than on its metal stand. I also oil my wheels a little bit, just a little spray of silicone hair shine spray or of nonstick cooking spray on the part of the wheel that turns, and it helps somewhat. A hedgehog wheel needs to be at least 12 in diameter.
