I have two blankets for my horse; 1200D rain sheet and a 1680D heavyweightEveryone at the barn says they are putting on their heavies in Nov or mid Nov, but shouldn't I put a blanket on before then too? Could I be putting that rain sheet on herI don't know what determines if it's a light, mid, or heavyShe already has her winter coat in tooI live in MI so when Nov and winter comes around it can get cold and nasty out.
Lots of epoxy and don't beat on the thing like you would a steal sword.
Allot of people tend to blanket their horses way too early in the seasonThey under-sestimate the warmth of a horse body and their ability to produce heatEven mid-november, as the people at your barn are saying, still seems too earlyWait until the temperature hits -10C to start blanketingIf your horse is thin skinned, or your feel you should blanket before then, put on something light and easy to move itHorses don't like blanketsThey;re uncomfortable for them and restrict movementFor the best interests of your horse, put it on as late as possible!
