Question:

When do you pick lime from a tree?

We are from California where there are 4 seperate seasons. We now live in the south (Southeast Georgia) where one seasons is similar to the next and fruit grows on the tree year round. How do you tell when the limes are ripe and ready to pick? Please help.....Thank you

Answer:

A lime....a lemon with less of an attitude.
sight - cut the lime open, look at the ripples of the fruit, compare it to the ripples of a gently flowing creek. It also resembles a flower, all of the petals joined, like an army, forming the perfect circle. (eek!! that was a bit forced, oh well) smell - describe digging your fingernail into the firm skin and the sweet scent of summer being released into the air - contrasting the bitter sweet taste of the fruit inside. sound - the crack of cutting through the skin - likening to freshness. The crack of squeezing half between your thumb and finger, the slush of the juice as the two sides join together and the pouring of the juice - compare to summer rain - the smell - the sound of it on hot tin roof with that of it in the bowl. touch - the firmness of the skin on the outside
