Question:

When will the gas from fiber go away?

Ok so I started a diet a few months ago.started eating a lot less calories.then about 2 weeks ago I started with eating a lot more fiber and switched to motly wheat/whole grains instead of white carbs(even though I wasnt eating much of them)but now I get SERIOUS gasI mean even when I used to eat superbad(mcdonalds, and taco bell and cookies daily.I rarely got gasNow since the fiber it helps my stomach bulge and I can finally see the abs I have been working so hard for BUT the gas is consant and its very bad especially after eating Kashi cereals.whats the deal is this temporary? I would love to continue eating a high fiber diet considering how its making me look but I cant handle this gas much longer!

Answer:

you never said what you ate exactlyYour digestive system is used to processed foodFruit and vegetable are more difficult to digest, and gas is a by-product of the digestive processMist people who eat hard and processed food, and then switch to high fiber, have gas and even mild diarrheaIt goes away after a while, when your digestive system accustoms itself to new foodBut there is a hitch called cabbage and beansCabbage and beans are low in calories and extremely fillingBut the gas from eat never goesFirst, they have a lot of fibreSecond, there is bacteria in your stomach which feeds on cabbage and beans fibre and produces gasAs this bacteria is useful to your stomach and it's impossible to remove, you will always have gas after eating cabbage and beansI suggest you remove cabbage and beans from your diet now, until your body get used to fibre-rich foodThen, you can eat cabbage and beans and have some little gas accompany it, as all the other humans.
