Yes if there' room, even on the right. But call the inspector service, they should be able to tell you the Offical ruling. In TX,USA we split speed bumps with a bare spot at the lane deviders.
If you could update this with the brand of the old detector and the brand of the new detector you are using. Some manufacturers do make a wiring hardness, or a harness converter/adapter. Otherwise you may just have have to cut and strip the wires off the harness and cap them with the wires on the new detector. Make sure if you do this option, you have someone who is qualified to work with electricity and wiring.
