Take out all the glass, cause it's gonna shatter when you land. You might also think about taking off the gas tank and putting a fuel cell in to avoid possible explosion upon impact. As for distance, take out everything in your car that weighs anything. Take off the AC compressor, the power steering pump, all seats, and anything else not bolted down. Less weight, more distance. if it is battery back up , or both like hard wired in 120 volt and it is old buy a new one , dust , humidity will set it off, buy a new one it saves lifes
