I had my alarm put in 20 years ago so they may be a bit more advanced now but mine works on the basis of the front, back or garage doors being opened. I also have two motion detectors inside the house that will set off the alarm and as it was explained to me at the time a unit that detects the sound of breaking glass. If I didn't have that unit my alarm wouldnt go off until someone started moving around inside the house
Pipe cleaners will do the job, but I would be more concerned with what I would do when the pipe bowl catches fire from the tobacco. It will not be important what kind of tobacco you plan on using in your pipe. You can take some of the scrap wood you have left over from making the pipe, light it and inhale the fumes. That is what all tobaccos will taste like in your pipe. You may also want to wear gloves because the pipe will get rather hot, somewhat like picking up a burning stick. Very good idea and I'm certain it was a tremendous amount of work and looks very good, but it should be put in on the shelf so you can enjoy your efforts - don't burn it up.
