Anyone know where/how I can get my hands on some big samples of Quartz that I can dig myself? It seems all the mines that allow you to rockhound only let you go through the trailings of their pit, which I doubt will yield the size quartz I am looking for.
Quartz crystals of a certain size can have a certain resonant frequency when they have electricity applied to them. These crystals were originally used to generate the transmitting RF frequency and receiving oscillator frequencies for radios. You actually had to plug this little box with two conductors on it into the circuit board of a radio to establish what the transmit and receive frequencies would be. These days, these frequencies are electronically synthesized. But, I seriously doubt that any particular RF frequency generated by quartz crystals could cause hallucinations. If this were true, then all of the people in the world with cell phones up to their heads would have all gone crazy by now.
