Question:

Which is a stronger magnet?

Which is a stronger magnetic material:Iron or steel?**PLZ ANSWER** !THANK YOU!

Answer:

IronTry it out by stickin a magnet to iron and steelu will find iron attracts wid a higher force :)
There are hundreds and hundreds of different types of steel and there are different types of commercial alloys called iron, different cast iron alloys for example. There are different ways to measure the magnetic properties so, depending on exactly what you are interested in, you might want to be more specific about your requirements (how do you define stronger). It also depends on the size and shape of the pieces. One correct answer would be: the biggest one. It also depends on exactly how it is magnetized and the direction that it is magnetized. It will be different if the piece is a single crystal of Fe vs a a heavily cold worked structure. So. It depends. In general. for a given size piece and a given magnetization, pure iron will, very generally, be stronger magnetically because you have slightly more Fe atoms than if it is an alloy with more non-magnetic atoms. Of course, if the steel has a lot of Co and Ni (as in some stainless steels) it might be magnetically stronger than pure Fe.
