Question:

Who gives the fire watch ribbon?

My husband said that president bush himself gave him the ribbon Is that true?

Answer:

I don't get it. You have a dog loose on the property, you know by the camera that someone is coming into your yard, and you just sit there and watch while someone comes into the yard who might very well get bitten? If you had signs up saying there was a guard dog, do not enter, no trespassing and all that, you might have a chance at not being sued, but having a dog loose in the yard which anyone can enter through an unlocked gate is asking for trouble. I have friendly dogs and I have signs up so someone coming up the drive knows there may be a dog around. What about the people who deliver mail? UPS? Newspapers? Political candidates canvassing? Girl Guides selling cookies? A kid asking if he can mow your lawn? If no one has been bitten before this, you've been lucky. This woman had a valid reason for coming to knock on your door, she was just doing her job. Someone around your house isn't thinking too hard. If you can go to the extent of having security cameras inside the house, how about getting an intercom at your front gate and keeping the gate locked? Good luck. Film companies and the unions the employees belong to have a lot more money for lawyers than you do. And it's called a cell phone.
First, make sure it's the right smoke alarm. Sometimes it's hard to know which one is beeping because it echoes around the house. I've put them under a pillow to change the sound when I'm not sure, since they only beep every couple minutes. Once you're sure you have the right one, make sure the battery you're replacing is new; alkaline are recommended. If that fails, I would take a battery from another detector that is not beeping and try that one. If it doesn't beep, then you know the replacement battery was defective. If it still beeps, try blowing in the unit; sometimes dust can collect and interfere with the sensor. Some alarms will also beep if the electrical connection is disconnected, so make sure the alarm is plugged in. If all the above fails, then more than likely the unit is defective and will need to be replaced (or serviced).
