Ya......screw BVB and Slipknot, They're talentless. And no. Alternative Metal, although very different, is highly influenced by Nu Metal. Personally, I don't think I would consider Rage to be Alternative Metal though. I would classify them more so as Rap Metal (which is awesome. Rage kills), but I guess you could call them Alternative Metal.

Alternative Metal is related to Nu Metal, there's no denying it. In fact many Alternative Metal bands were direct influences on Nu Metal, Faith No More, Primus, and Helmet to name a few Alt. Metal bands who were massive influences on Nu Metal. I'd say System of a Down is an example of an Alternative Metal band that sometimes get labelled as Nu Metal, although it could be argued that they're Nu Metal, their music is more in line with Alt. Metal, some of Mike Patton's work in Faith No More and Mr. Bungle is a huge influence on their music and it's more apparent than it is in most Nu Metal.
