Why in the world would anyone install a smoke detector there? I've put in hundreds of them and never once in a kitchen. Sounds like another handyman job.
50/50 bleach water mix and scrub. Put a fan on it to let it totally dry.
1) know what you are doing 2) if it possible turn off power 3) wearing isolated shoes and gloves 4) use only one hand, put the other in the pocket 5) do not work alone follow this and you should be safe
