Question:

why 273.1 rear axle ratio?

why 273.1 rear axle ratio?

Answer:

for milage with small diameter tires also so the engine doesn't rev as high
I think you have erred. A 273.1 axle ratio would be such low gearing that the car would barely creep with the engine roaring. With that ratio the axle would only make 18 revolutions for 5,000 revolutions of the engine when in high gear. Did you possibly mean a 2.73 to 1 rear axle ratio? That ratio is a bit uncommon also as it doesn't give a lot of torque but it is great for gas mileage.
they are really tough! don't worry, just put it in a larger container and it will do great
