Why are lightning rods normally taller than the buildings they protect?

Answer:

They do it to themselves
because we look different from all the race in the world, so they became obsess with us..
Hopefully very little heat will be produced in the metal. The heat of lightning is caused entirely by the friction of electrical current. The actual heat depends on the current and the resistance of the metal which in turn depends on the metal type and it's cross section. It should be very low to protect a building. Most of the energy will be dissipated in the air and the ground. If you have a higher resistance path like through the damp bricks of a house then the heat generated can create a flash of steam powerful enough to crack walls apart.
everything needs a lightning rod to keep society going. black people take all the negativity so the other races don;t have to look art the their own imperfections . if black people weren't here the country would die from boredom and nothing to hate.
