Why can't boxers use the size of gloves they want?

Wouldn't that be a clever way of taking away your opponent's capability of hurting you? Why not I use 10 oz gloves and you use 8 oz. I'm not afraid of your power but I have to protect my hands. That's a LEVEL playing field for me.

they are made for that nowadays, they are supposed to have built in protection from catching fire. i used one for years and never had any problem, even slept on top of it a lot.
Get a hot water bottle, I know it goes cold but you don't run the risk of burning up while you sleep.
