Question:

Why cant we Harvest Lightning as an Electricity source?

In School recently i heard that enough lightning lands on earth each day to power it,Now im not 6 i know that most of it lands in the ocean and 99.999% of the time it is unpredictable, but someone then said that the empire state building each struck by lightning 100 times a year! and im not saying thats true but when my bro was there it was struck by lightning so it cant be that uncommon, so why cant we have a ready power (Insert long fancy word) reciever on the other end waiting for the lightning to power it up?can someone answer my other question on nutmeg?

Answer:

Some would, but most will not - if he really loves you (and it sounds as if he does) he won't. My husband and I have been married for 24 years. I almost died several times about 6 years into our marriage at the age of 29 from a ruptured appendix and subsequent complications and surgeries. Not only am I not the same weight (many procedures and medications taken for awhile back then), but my abdomen is disfigured (it is not pretty at all). He has always been kind about it and still seems attracted to me - he says it's decorative and unique. Keep working out and stay in shape for your health and well being - but it sounds like you have a good man and a good marriage. Attitude and confidence do make a difference as well as a positive outlook - you seem to have that too.
Very few smoke dectors are not abttery back up operated. They are necessary for power outages, or if your electricity gets disconnected from a tripped circuit breaker, your elcetrical power lines get cut, etc I would go to the manufacturer's web site to see how to replacxe the battery if possible. Most smoke detectors are hardwired for 2 reasons : For A/C power, and if one goes off it triggers the rest of the detectors to go off. The hard wiring usually is to a plug that fits in the smoke detector outlet. All smoke and carbon monoxide detectors I have owned or hooked up use 9v batteries. It is hard to find fresh ones. Even brand new ones that ibought where to weka, that the smoke detector beeped almost immediately. I got a Ten Year guarenteed smoke detector battery. It cost about $8, and got it at Menards. It is little ask for the peace of the smoke dectector's constant beeping, and possibly saving you from a deadly fire. That way they do not need being replaced every year like or twice a year like the fire departments like to say when you change the clock in the spring and the fall for day light savings time. Plus if they do not last 10 years there replaced for free!
My system runs on house power with a battery backup if the house power fails. I think you do have a battery in there somewhere. My battery is located behind a sliding panel about 1 x 2. I don't have to twist off the detector to get to it. Chirping can also be caused by excessive dust in the detector sensor. A can of compressed air will fix that. Been there, done that.
Preventing an alarm from operating is a law violation and could, if a fire started, leave you open to a major liability lawsuit. I'd go visit a friend till it gets fixed properly.
Dr Spark .. AS usual is wrong. Hard wired smoke alarms do not require a battery and normally do not have a battey at all. . All you have to do unplug it if it has a plug. they usually have plugs to connect to wall wiring. if not just disconnect one of the wires , does not matter which one.
