Question:

Why did my transmission fall out?

I drove over a speed bump and the transmission just fell out of the car.

Answer:

except for the Caucasus area, all of Russia is quite safe, and crime against common people is usually not an issue. Chelyabinsk, Norilsk, and Zheleznogorsk, to name three, are heavy industrial cities and somewhat known for pollution. along the 55th parallel, roughly, are many small cities where one can walk to most places needed. each city has little neighborhoods with beauty salons, schools, pharmacies, several grocers, shoe repair, electrical, hardware, banks, etc. city centers always have many shops too and electronics, clothing, sports equipment, etc specialty shops. Barnaul, Novosibirsk (large), Omsk, Tomsk, Tyumen, Ekaterineburg (large), Perm, Izhevsk, Kazan, Kirov, Ufa, Ulyanovsk, Nizhny Novgorod are some medium to large (300,000 to million+) cities. these have buses, trams, and some have metros (subways). a LOT of smaller cities are there, too, and are the most convenient. Murom, Arzamas, Sergach, Ishim, Mozhga, etc are about 100,000. these are usually limited to city buses, but all are on rail lines. Russia has scores of these small cities. as for decent summer- i like Texas summers, long and hot, but i suppose most people DON'T! so i would say any of these will have a few cool days in June, hot July and August, but about the 15-20 of August, it becomes quite cool. Tyumen, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Barnaul all are similar to Krasnoyarsk in climate. most cities are on rivers, and to retire would allow you to fish. no license or permission needed to fish any lake or stream. nets must be licensed. local people know edible mushrooms which are an autumn treat. again, the counrtry is open and if retired, you could hunt mushrooms, blueberries, tiny forest strawberries, rose hips, etc. differrent berries and herbs are found in different areas. i vacation in Russia without work for 2-10 months at a time. no one is forced to work, or questioned for not working. so if you can get a green card and live here, you should really enjoy life.
