Question:

why do cars have spoilers?

why do cars have spoilers?

Answer:

it actually helps with aerodynamics of the vehicle and it is to make the car look more sporty, they first were invented to help keep good traction on the rear of the car at high speeds and was used on race cars.
Racecars have spoilers because at high speeds parts of the car can function like an airplane, lifting it off the ground. While this doesn't really make the car fly, pusing it off the ground reduces traction, making it easier to lose control, and causing the beaks to not work as well. Spoilers function as anti-wings using aircurrents to push them down towards the ground. This is not really a problem for most normal streat legal cars, but some cars have incorporated spoilers to make them look like racecars.
Race cars: the rear spoiler, or wing, keeps the rear end firmly planted on the track. The FRONT spoiler, or air dam, routes air AROUND the car rather than UNDER it, which creates a vacuum under there, helping hold the car down. Race cars can lift up and fly through the air and flip over when this vacuum is removed. Street cars: strictly a cosmetic addition. Few street cars ever go fast enough to make use of a spoiler.
