Why do Fireman have such egos?
Supposedly there is a fire retardant gel that the Home Depot sells and is similar to what the fire department here in San Diego uses. Everytime I have checked since we had the Paradise/Cedar fires in 03, however, our Depot doesn't have it. You are supposed to be able to use this stuff in a power washer and it turns to get once it hits a surface. My neighbor got some, but never had time in this fire to use it because the evacuations came in the middle of the night and you have to apply this right before the fires hit and it only lasts a few days to a week (he says). Then, you have to rinse it off or the sun will bake it to the house. Glad to hear Malibu is doing better. We're still watching our Witch fire
A good hardware store should have cabinet locks. A lock for a city type mailbox would work. Both are cylinder locks, where you drill a hole through the door. One door will need to be secured with a bolt latch, from inside, while the other door is still open. The cylinder lock will secure the doors together.
