Why does everybody hate nu-metal?

I love metal, mostly thrash and doom metal. I don't really like nu-metal, but most metalheads seem to hate it. Why is that?

I could name off 30-50 bands to check out but for now I'll continue to say that Ghost is the BEST new Metal band. In fact the best I've heard since Bloodbath first released their debut EP. This is coming from a guy with over 300,000 Heavy Metal songs.
