Posted in the wrong place because of the word 'metal' in the question - needs to be put in music area. And my experience is that playing metal strings vs nylon is mostly a matter of a different sound, not a different technique, although some techniques sound better on the metal. Of course, if you mean like heavy metal music that is a whole nother (disgusting) bag.
