my dentist said if i chew gum that may be why it locks up but it started locking up in the middle of anything like wrestling and while im eating

If the security folks choose to open your suitcase and if it is locked, they will simply break the lock, and if the lock is a part of the suitcase that can really damage if not destroy the closing mechanism. Therefore, if you feel you must lock your suitcase, be sure to get a separate lock that is TSA Approved, which is a kind of combination lock (you set the combination) but which can be opened with a TSA key and then re-locked by TSA. They're not expensive, and almost always less than $10. Of course, I have to tell you that twice TSA opened my suitcase and then didn't put the lock back, so I lost the lock . . . I no longer bother to lock my suitcases, and have had no problems with things being stolen or destroyed or messed up. Naturally, you shouldn't put expensive or precious things into a suitcase you will turn over to others.
