Question:

Why does my keep grand Cherokee sit so low?

I have a 2004 jeep grand Cherokee. I just put new tires on it at a shop. When they lowered my jeep down I noticed that my body sinks down a good 10 to 12 inches. I also noticed this when I jacked up it to change tires by myself. Need to raise it up 10 ins for the front and the back I need a block to raise it up (sub box in the back). I read this model has a complex suspension system. Is that true? Is there any cheap way to lift the body up? That doesn‘t involve buying a $800 lift kit. Heavy duty spring? ThanksPetet

Is there any cheap way to lift the body up? That doesn't involve buying a $800 lift kit. Heavy duty spring? No. When they lowered my jeep down I noticed that my body sinks down a good 10 to 12 inches. I also noticed this when I jacked up it to change tires by myself. Need to raise it up 10 ins for the front and the back I need a block to raise it up (sub box in the back). What you are seeing is the suspension travel which for an off-road capable vehicle needs to be substantial. This allows the wheels of the Jeep to articulate .accommodate severe terrain variations while keeping all four wheels planted on the ground. Jeeps have always had great off-road capability box stock off the assembly line. Unless you *really* know what you're doing or you have a genuine *need* for increased suspension travel and height, just leave it alone. And if you do desire to lift your ride, find a shop that specializes in it so it will be done correctly and, more importantly, safely. Done right costs money .and that's the only way to do it.
