Question:

Why does my vacuum smell like its burning?

My vacuum smells like its burning whenever its in use but the vacuum rubberband is not broken or anything. How can i fix it and whats happening?

Answer:

unusual that you may want to ask - i have in basic terms bumped off the batteries - because the wretched smoke alarms kept beeping and waking up neighbours when I burnt a slice of toast. undesirable layout, I reckon.
zonelabs download zonealarm, it asks you what you want to give access or block, and you can choose to remember the choice you select.
I see you already got your answer. Now, don't forget to refill the extinguisher, or acquire a new one. I keep a small one in the kitchen, one near the bedrooms, one downstairs near the boiler, and one in the garage. I also keep one in each of my two vehicles. It is recommended every 6 months or so you invert the extinguisher, and gently tap it with a rubber mallet. It will avoid the powder you saw, from settling at the bottom. Also, in a typical grease fire, water will cause the fire to spread. Always keep an extinguisher handy, even near your BBQ.
If the smoke alarm is hard wired there is no battery to change. If it is a battery operated alarm, just twist the cover off. It will chirp and birp. It is supposed to, so you will know it is disconnected. Like you wouldn't know standing right under it.!! (It is not the same as when the alarm goes off. You'll know!! A long loud piercing sound!! Just burn your toast some morning!! If the alarm does go off sometime when you are cooking just stand under it and fan it with a pillow or newspaper or magazine and it will stop. Don't ask me how I know!!!) . Pop the old battery out and the new one in. Easy as ABC. If you still feel uneasy about it ask your landlord (if you live in an apartment) or the cute tenant across the hall!!. Or just call the Fire Department (not on 911 though) and ask them to come by. While you are at it discuss the need for a carbon monoxide detector. If you have to change a battery, do it yearly at the same time each year. Like your birthday or when the time changes. Then you are sure to have a competent alarm. Good luck!
