Cigarette boxes used to say quot;lightquot; or quot;ultra lightquot;, but no longer do.
Using the description light or ultra light might be interpreted as meaning that the cigarettes are somehow safer than regular or full flavor smokes, and that would be deceptive advertising. In the USA using the terms light and ultra light was banned for this reason. Lights, and ultra lights, are just as dangerous and just as likely to cause disease such as emphysema and cancer.
Because people thought it would lead people to believe that it is a safer cigarette, I think it might be the FDA who changed it, but not sure.
