I wouldn't say it is stronger but the main benefit is that it reduces pinion angle due to the front driveshaft in most vehicles is shorter than the rear. Jeeps are an exception with driveshaft length but it is nice to have when lifting your vehicle.
FWD is great sometimes for bad weather. It's great for the manufacturer because it's cheaper to build. It sucks for performance and there expensive to fix can cost two or three times more than an RWD Rwd cars are extremely better for high performance and handling. There a lot cheaper to repair and usually last longer When the last time you have seen a FWD race car at Indy Nascar etc? Does Ferrari,Lamborghini, Porsche the Corvette etc use FWD?
Rear Wheel drive gives better cornering control than a front wheel drive. front wheel drive cars oversteer. front wheel drive is better on acceleration. rear wheel drive cars are fun. burnouts, drifting, powerslides, doughnuts etc. front wheel drive cars are cheapers than rear wheeled cars. rear wheel cars look better with the staggered stance. they also have better braking and have nno torque steer. and the best Porshes and Lambos are AWD check this out
Reverse rotation gears. And pinion bearing alingment. Reverse gears put the amount of strain in the opposite as the rears. So the pinion is above the center line. It is like taking the rear diff, and fliping it upside down, fixing the oiling problems, and running it up front. It has to do with gear angle, and pitch. Gear walk, and bearing load. A high pinion is stronger in a front axle because of the way the ring and pinion mesh. In a high pinion axle the pinion fully meshes with the ring gear, and is pushing downward on the ring gear. In the low pinion axle the pinion is pulling the ring gear down, from the bottom, which creates more stress on both the ring gear and pinion. The high pinion axles, offer a stronger ring and pinion, and slightly more clearance, thats it. Axleshafts and everything else are the same between high and low pinion axles.
