Question:

Why is nu-metal not considered metal?

It sounds rather metal to me, but I'm not a musician or even a huge music lover. I am merely a casual listener. Why is nu-metal not considered metal?

Answer:

True metal... Well there are different types. There's doom/stoner metal like Sabbath, and then there's stuff like speed metal such as early Metalleca and Pantera. Also I'd consider bands like Judas Preist to be metal... Then there's stuff that could be considered 'nu-metal' like Slipknot, Korn, and Deftones. ALSO you got all other types of metal inbetween like death metal, which I don't really listen to much... And Industrial metal. Idk. I like types like Sabbath, Pantera, Korn Deftones and Slipknot though. What about you?
metal today sucks unless your into the underground scene
by pop bands you mean Kiss? Some folks think they're metal.

What I hear in Metal today is all that screaming bullcrap. What true metal is what it started out as. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth. All that was true metal, now you don't even hear any kind of metal today without it having screaming in it.
