Question:

Why isn't cable working on my tv?

I have a digital cable box on a tv downstairs and I'm trying to hook up cable upstairs. I got a splitter and ran a cable upstairs but the tv either shows a few local channels, but fuzzy, or whatever channel the box downstairs is on totally clear. Why can't I just view basic channels like mtv or the discovery channel on my tv upstairs?

Answer:

If you are using a splitter on the cable coming out of the cable box, the box downstairs is the only channel control, for both tvs. So you have to set the cable box on the channel you want to watch upstairs to see it clearly. You can't watch a different channel downstairs and another upstairs. Only one at a time.
